In order to further develop this field, Malta Enterprise developed the Malta Life Sciences Park (MLSP), containing high-end facilities for the chemistry, biology and digital imaging sectors, adjoining the University of Malta, the main teaching hospital as well as the national oncology centre. The Life Sciences Park is designed to allow companies to commence operations with minimal preparation in order to focus on their core activities as well as to leverage synergies with other companies within the Park as well as with academia.

The physical facilities available on the island are further backed up by a raft of attractive support measures designed specifically to assist companies in Research and Development activities. All this makes Malta an attractive option for investors in the sector.

MLSP provides an international class facility for life sciences and information technology development. There are 8,000m2 of laboratories, offices, seminar rooms, meeting rooms and a number of shared facilities. MLSP is the national focal point to promote research and development, life sciences and biotechnology industry.

It boasts 54 units spread on six floors and the underground facility which in total measure 5800m2. The Malta Life Sciences Centre comprises  two adjacent blocks which hosts activities related to Biology and Chemistry and provides meeting rooms, seminar and lab training rooms.

Within the MLSP, the Malta Digital Hub is primarily dedicated to the development of digital technology and creates synergies between ICT and life sciences especially in the field of imaging, software applications and interpretation of data.

MLSP is a national landmark that is strategically located near the Island’s main general hospital Mater Dei, the Oncology Centre and the University of Malta. The Park’s location promotes better and closer collaboration between the life sciences industries and international scientific and research personnel, encouraging the exchange of knowledge, ideas and experiences.
